What if you could sell as many (or even half) of your company's products as McDonald's sells hamburgers? Would that significantly increase your abundance?
I thought so.
Given that, consider this story of an interview a business consultant conducted with Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonald's. In the interview, the consultant asked Mr. Kroc the simple question, "What business are you in?"
You see, the business consultant wanted to know if Mr. Kroc thought he was in the restaurant or fast food or service or hamburger business. Imagine his surprise when Mr. Kroc's answer was "the real estate business"!
Mr. Kroc went on to explain that the business on which he needed to concentrate and become masterful was real estate because it made the biggest difference in terms of his success. He knew that if he was able to identify a good piece of property in a good location and negotiate a good price for it "“ among other things, his restaurant would succeed. The training, systems and products of a McDonald's restaurants guaranteed that. However, if he was not masterful at real estate and built a restaurant on a poor piece of property (e.g., poor location, overpriced), it would not succeed.
The training, systems, products and restaurants are the EXACT SAME either way - the only difference in terms of success and the number of hamburgers sold was the real estate on which the restaurant was located.
The other reason Ray Kroc considered real estate to be his primary business was because real estate was his source of residual income! You see - when someone purchased a McDonald's franchise, he purchased the right to use the McDonald's name and all the products, systems and training created by McDonald's. The franchisee did not, however, purchase the property on which the restaurant is built. That property was leased to the franchisee by Mr. Kroc - thus creating an ongoing residual income!
So - Ray Kroc was in the real estate business-and he sold A LOT of hamburgers!
The Business Behind Your Business...
Given that, if you'd like to sell as many of your products as he sold hamburgers, it's important that you make a similar shift. Instead of thinking that your business is that of health products or long distance service or telecommunications or even networking, you need to realize that there's an underlying (even primary) business for you to master and upon which your success depends.
So - what is the "real estate" business on which you need to concentrate and master?
In simple terms, it's what I call the TRANSFORMATION business!!!
First, consider the biblical expression that says "You can't pour new wine into old wineskins." You see, in biblical times - before the advent of wine bottles - to pour some new wine into old wineskins would cause the wine to spoil and, eventually, the wineskin to rot and burst.
Next, consider a principle master coach and trainer, T. Harv Eker, teaches in his weekend workshops. This principle, called "The Process of Manifestation", states that the process of manifesting results begins with a thought. This thought(s) produces a certain feeling(s) and the combination of this thought(s) and feeling(s) leads to and influences our action(s). Ultimately, it is our actions that create our results.
Now, let's juxtapose the idea of "pouring new wine into old wineskins" with "The Process of Manifestation."
If you want to have different and more abundant results then it is clear that your actions will need to change. However, if your only focus is on taking new actions it won't work; because your thoughts and feelings haven't changed.
To simply take new actions without transforming your thoughts & feelings is like trying to pour new wine into old wineskins! It will spoil the impact of the new actions! You may try a new technique or leads list or autoreply or script. You may try a new product or training system or even a new company. However, all of this "new" and "abundant" wine will quickly spoil if placed in a "wineskin" that is laced with scarcity thoughts, feeling and beliefs!
That's what I mean by saying that, as a networker, your real business is the transformation business!
Success in your networking business requires more than good products, systems and training, e.g. a "restaurant." As with McDonald's, the "location" upon which your "restaurant" is built is what will make the biggest difference - in terms of results, success and abundance.
You see, the transformation business is one that requires you to become ma sterful at empowering people - especially yourself - to grow, to learn, to participate fully and to be in consistent action toward their dreams. It requires that you become masterful at transforming scarcity limitations and blocks into openings and possibilities for abundance. It recognizes the necessity of reconditioning "old wineskins" laced with scarcity thoughts, feelings and patterns - and transforming them into ones that support abundance at all levels.
Look at it this way. If, just like Ray Kroc, you take the steps necessary to become masterful at the transformation business - and you combine that with a good company, product, system and tools that are a "fit" for you, then you cannot help but have transformational, abundant AND residual results!
In other words, you'll be able to sell a lot of "hamburgers".
